Bhopal. MP known as the island of peace has become unsafe for girls. This is because on an average, 16 girls are abducted every day from the state. The special thing is that in these too, the number of adolescent girls especially between 12 and 18 years is the highest. If their average is taken out, then it is 94 percent. This means that on average, one girl is being abducted daily from three districts.

This has been revealed by the data released by National Crime Records Bureau (NCRB) 2018. MP is third in the country in the highest number of kidnapping of children. In the context of National Girl Child Day, the Child Rights and You (CRY) institution has made this information public by analyzing the report. According to the NCRB report, in five years (2014-18), a 27 percent increase in kidnapping of minor girls has been registered. 4546 girls were kidnapped in 2014, while the figure rose to 5767 in 2018.

According to the same report, the case registered under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offenses (PASCO) Act has increased by 58 per cent. In 2017, there were 1569 cases registered under this in MP, which increased to 2445 in 2018. In this too, Madhya Pradesh is at number three in terms of maximum number. The highest number of cases of rape by minors in the country (2830) are also reported in MP.
