New Delhi. The Union Cabinet on Wednesday approved the Memorandum of Understanding between India and Iceland in the field of sustainable fisheries development. This approval was given in the meeting of the Union Cabinet chaired by Prime Minister Modi. This MoU was signed by India and Iceland on September 10, 2019.
The MoU involves the exchange of scientific and technical experts in the entire offshore and deep sea fishing sector, and especially at the right places. There has been talk of raising facilities for the appointment.
It involves the establishment of fisheries professionals in the field of modern fisheries management and processing. Provision has also been made for sharing of information and other information received from scientific studies and research in the field of training and fisheries. The Government believes that this MoU will further strengthen the friendly relations between India and Iceland and promote mutual consultation and cooperation in subjects related to fisheries sector as well as bilateral issues.
