New Delhi. The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has filed a chargesheet against Dubai industrialist and alleged middleman Manoj Prasad in a bribery case involving former agency special director Rakesh Asthana. In the charge sheet filed before Judge Sanjeev Aggarwal, Asthana gave a clean chit. The agency has also named RAW chief SK Goyal as Pak clean in the case, which was under investigation. CBI DSP Devendra Kumar also got a clean chit from the agency, who was arrested in 2018 and later got bail. The court has decided to consider the final report on Wednesday.
Prasad was arrested on 17 October 2018 and he was granted bail on 18 December of the same year. According to the sources, it is mentioned in the charge sheet that the investigation in the case is still going on and the agency can file a supplementary report. Prasad was granted statutory bail by a Delhi court in December 2018 after the CBI failed to file a charge sheet in the mandatory 60-day period.
The lower court granted Kumar bail on 31 October last year when The agency did not oppose his application. He was arrested on 23 October. The CBI registered the case against Asthana on a complaint by Hyderabad-based industrialist Satish Sana, who was facing investigation in the 2017 case in which meat exporter Moin Qureshi was allegedly involved.
