Srinagar. In Jammu and Kashmir, mobile internet service which was closed for 173 days was resumed from Saturday. However, only low-speed 2G internet has been started. Only 301 websites will be able to access post-paid and prepaid services from the Internet service started on the SIM card. These fixed websites are related to search engines, banking, education, news, travel, facilities and employment.
People of the Valley will not be able to use social media platforms like Facebook, WhatsApp and Twitter right now. Earlier on 2 January, 2G mobile internet was started in Jammu, Samba, Kathua and Udhampur districts. With the decision to end the special status of Jammu and Kashmir on August 5 last year and to divide it into two union territories, internet and mobile were switched off in Jammu and Kashmir. The youth expressed happiness over the introduction of internet services.
