New Delhi. The Income Tax Department said that if the PAN card is not linked to Aadhaar by 31 March, then it will become operative. The date of PAN-Aadhaar link has been extended several times and currently the date is 31 March 2020.
As of 27 January 2020, 30.75 crore PANs have been linked to Aadhaar. 17.85 crore PANs are yet to be linked to Aadhaar. On behalf of CBDT, it was said that if someone's PAN becomes inoperative, then the problem without PAN will have to be dealt with. Linking PAN to Aadhaar after March 31 will be considered operative from the day it will be linked.
So what will be discontinued Vodafone Idea? CBDT said that the person who has been allotted PAN by July 1, 2017 They have to give information about their basis under sub-section (2) of Section 139AA of the Income Tax Act by 31 March 2020. If not done, then the PAN concerned will become inoperative thereafter.
As per Section 139AA (2) of the Income Tax Act, by July 1, 2017, people who have PAN and are eligible to take Aadhaar, will have to pay Aadhaar number. The authority has to give information.
The Supreme Court gave Aadhaar statutory status in September 2018, along with that it was necessary to have Aadhaar for PAN card allotment. UIDAI issues Aadhaar. PAN is a 10 digit alphanumeric number which the Income Tax Department issues.
