As part of Samajwadi Party President Akhilesh Yadav's strategy to strengthen his party in the Lok Sabha constituency, Congress General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra on Wednesday met the families of the jailed anti-citizenship amendment law (CAA) protesters. During this, Priyanka Gandhi said that there is no oppression in democracy. He accused the BJP-led governments in the Center and Uttar Pradesh of trying to break the constitution. He described both governments as anti-poor and anti-people.
Addressing the public from the roof of his SUV in Bilariaganj, he said that what happened to you is wrong and injustice. We will all stand against injustice. The government of the Center and Uttar Pradesh are anti-people and anti-poor and are working to break the constitution. He warned the public that if you and we did not save it together, the Constitution would be broken. He said that you saw that the BJP government in Uttarakhand has said that reservation is not a constitutional right. The BJP government has spoken of breaking the constitution in the Supreme Court.
He said that the Congress will stand with the people who are protesting peacefully.
