New Delhi. Former Governor of Reserve Bank of India (RBI) Raghuram Rajan said that the government is paying more attention to its political and social agenda than economy. This is also an important reason for economic slowdown. He said that if major problems are taken care of, then the growth rate can return to track. Rajan said, 'It is sad. I think politics is responsible for the lethargy.
He said that after a big victory in the elections, the current government is' insisting on fulfilling its political and social agenda. Rajan said, it is sad that due to this the growth rate is slowing down, due to which the decisions of the government like demonetisation and implementation of GST were considered responsible. Rajan, Professor (Finance) at the University of Chicago Booth School of Business, said that India has not given enough attention to fixing the financial sector and it is sad that sluggishness persists. He said, "If adequate attention is given to these things, then the circumstances can be changed if appropriate steps are taken.
