Republic Day: Vividh Bharati at Rajpath


New Delhi. President Ram Nath Kovind hoisted the flag and started the 71st Republic Day celebrations. Republic Day was celebrated with full fervor in the presence of Brazilian President Jair Bolsonaro.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi paid floral cycles at the National War Memorial in the presence of Defense Minister Rajnath Singh, the three Army Chiefs and the Chief of Defense Staff Bipin Rawat and paid tribute to the martyrs. Wearing a traditional kurta pajama and jacket, Modi later reached Rajpath and met President Ram Nath Kovind and the chief guest. The Prime Minister was wearing a saffron turban.

While hoisting the national flag, the band played the national anthem and gave a 21-gun salute. Home Minister Amit Shah, Defense Minister Rajnath Singh and Foreign Minister S.K. Most ministers of Modi government, including Jaishankar, were present on the occasion. Apart from this, former Prime Ministers Manmohan Singh and HD Deve Gowda and Congress leader Ghulam Nabi Azad were also present.


On this occasion, the entire nation witnessed the burning of the Indian Army at Rajpath. The army and navy also showed their fire in the parade. During this time, the team leading the army signal was led by Captain Tanya Shergill, a fourth generation army officer.

The Sikh Light Infantry Regiment was led by Major Anjum Gorka of the Sixth Battalion of the Sikh Light Infantry. Lieutenant Vivek Vijay More of 140 Air Defense Regiment led the Air Defense Control Radar in the parade on Rajpath. The Indo-Tibetan Border Police led a contingent force led by Assistant Commandant Amit Yadav to march on the Rajpath in Canada.
