New Delhi. Protests against the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) have been going on continuously for the last 2 months in Shaheen Bagh. Now Delhi Police has imposed Section 144 in Shaheen Bagh area and has deployed heavy police force as a security system. In Shaheen Bagh, Delhi Police issued notice and said that people should not gather in this area nor protest.
The notice states that legal action will be taken against those who disobey this order. 12 additional company security forces have been deployed near the protest site. It consists of ten company male security forces, while two company female security forces have been deployed. At the same time, the Hindu army announced on Saturday that it would end the demonstration of Shaheen Bagh.
Joint Commissioner DC Srivastava present in Shaheen Bagh, Delhi said that as a precaution, heavy police deployment has been done here. He said that our aim is to maintain law and order and to prevent any untoward incident from happening. The Hindu army was scheduled to land on March 1 to remove the women sitting at the Shaheen Bagh demonstration site. However, after the violence erupted in Delhi, the Hindu army changed its decision.
It is believed that the police have taken this decision in view of security. The violence that has erupted in North East Delhi may have subsided but the police is eyeing the area so that there is no more commotion. The petition filed in the Supreme Court on the protest in Shaheen Bagh is now to be heard on 23 March. The petition demanded protection from the protesters.
