New Delhi. The Union Cabinet on Wednesday approved the draft Pesticide Management Bill 2020. In which emphasis has been laid on ensuring safe and effective use of pesticides. Approval was given in the meeting of the Union Cabinet chaired by PM Modi. Information and Broadcasting Minister Prakash Javadekar told after the meeting that the Pesticide Management Bill came in 2008 but it could not be passed by Parliament. After withdrawing that bill and considering the recommendations and other suggestions of the Standing Committee, Pesticide Management Bill 2020 is going to be brought in a new form.
He said that it will be introduced in Parliament. Javadekar said that this is another initiative of the Modi government for the welfare of farmers. Its objective is to provide safe and effective pesticides to farmers, which are safe and effective from the point of view of crops. In the bill, measures have been taken to protect farmers from fake and unauthorized pesticides. According to the bill, if someone sells adulterated pesticides and unregistered pesticides, then they can be fined and criminal cases can also be tried.
