New Delhi. Demonstrations against the Citizenship Amendment Act in Shaheenbagh continued on the 42nd day on Republic Day. During this, the tricolor was hoisted by Rohit Vemula's mother Radhika and Junaid (the victim of mob violence in the train). People gathered on the road before flag hoisting at Shaheenbagh. Rohit Vemula and Junaid's mother hoisted the flag at around 12 o'clock.

The three elderly women performing during this time Asma Khatoon, Bilkish and Sarwari also accompanied. After this, by singing the national anthem, the protesters appealed to withdraw the CAA. The Republic Day celebrations in Shaheenbagh started from midnight on Saturday. The tricolor was hoisted on the road on Sunday afternoon when the Preamble to the Constitution was read at the protest venue. The flag hoisting was arranged near the pedestrian crossing, located a little away from the venue.

It was specially decorated with flowers. A case of sedition was also registered in Delhi on Sunday on JNU student Sharjeel for making anti-national statements in the ongoing protest against the CAA in Shaheenbagh. Apart from this, a case has also been registered in Arunachal Pradesh and Manipur. Earlier, cases have been filed in Aligarh and Assam.
